FAQs
Everything you need to know before you press
Below are the questions we get asked most about our ready-to-press DTF transfers, from what they will stick to, through to trade pricing and delivery. If your question is not answered here, email us at dtf@readytopressdtf.co.uk and we will get straight back to you.
What is a DTF transfer, and what do I get?
DTF stands for direct-to-film. Your chosen design is printed onto a special film with a full white underbase, ready for you to heat press onto a garment. You are buying the transfer only, not the t-shirt, hoodie, tote or apron. There is no weeding, no cutting and no layering to do.
What garments can I press these onto?
Cotton, polyester and poly-cotton blends all work well, along with canvas totes, aprons, tea towels and most soft fabrics. Because every transfer is printed with a white underbase, the colours stay true on dark garments as well as white and pastel ones.
How do I apply the transfer?
Position the transfer on your garment, press with a heat press at the recommended time and temperature, then peel while the film is still warm. Application notes are listed on every product page. A household iron is not a reliable substitute for a heat press, as it will not hold even pressure across the design.
Do you offer bulk and trade pricing?
Yes. Pricing drops as your order grows, with tiers at 1 to 6, 7 to 14, and 15 or more. If you are buying for a shop, a market stall, a school or an event, use our wholesale page and we will quote you directly. All prices are shown excluding VAT.
How long will my order take?
Orders are printed and dispatched from our Devon studio within 1 to 3 working days, Monday to Friday. You will receive a confirmation email as soon as your parcel is on its way. Delivery times after dispatch depend on the service selected at checkout.
Can I return a transfer?
Because every transfer is custom-made and printed to order, all sales are final. We cannot accept returns or exchanges for change of mind, incorrect ordering or customer error, so we always suggest testing one transfer on a spare garment first. Orders cancelled before production begins are subject to a 10% cancellation fee, and once production has started an order cannot be cancelled. If your order arrives faulty, damaged or is not what you ordered, contact us and we will put it right.
Can I request a custom design?
We add new designs regularly and we do take requests from the makers who sell them. Send us a note through the contact page telling us what you are after, and we will let you know what is possible and what it would cost.
